Rubbish – Acrylic on canvas — set of 4
In this vibrant series of four acrylic paintings, discarded Coca-Cola cans — symbols of mass consumption and waste — are transformed into powerful works of art. Each crushed can lies partly submerged in earth, surrounded by soil, flowers, moss, and fractured stone. What once represented litter now becomes a meditation on renewal, resilience, and the quiet strength of nature.
Through bold colour and intricate detail, the artist captures the dialogue between human impact and nature’s response. The rich reds of the cans contrast with greens, yellows, and browns — the palette of regeneration. Despite the man-made damage, life pushes back: plants creep over metal, roots reclaim space, and the natural world begins to heal itself.
Reclaimed invites us to look closer — to see beauty in what we throw away, and to recognise the earth’s capacity to restore balance even in the face of neglect. These works are not just paintings; they are reminders that every act of creation can also be an act of restoration.
